Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

1. Overview

SendAlong is a peer-to-peer listings and messaging platform that connects travelers with spare luggage space to senders who need items delivered. SendAlong is not a shipping service, courier, freight forwarder, or payment processor.

2. Marketplace Disclaimer

SendAlong is not a party to any transaction between users. We do not own, sell, resell, deliver, store, manage, or insure any item listed or sent through the platform. We do not process payments, take any commission, or hold funds in escrow. SendAlong currently operates free of charge.

All payments, prices, and arrangements between senders and travelers are negotiated and settled directly between the two users, outside the platform. SendAlong does not verify, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of any listing, the identity or qualifications of any user, the condition, legality, or safety of any item, or the ability or willingness of any user to complete a deal.

3. Eligibility & Account Use

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction (whichever is higher), to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep it up to date, and verify your email address when prompted. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, and you must not share access credentials with anyone else or operate more than one account without our written permission.

4. User Responsibilities

Users are responsible for ensuring that items sent through SendAlong comply with all applicable laws, customs regulations, and airline policies in both the origin and destination countries. Users are also solely responsible for evaluating the trustworthiness of the people they choose to deal with and for any payment, handover, or delivery arrangement made between them.

4.1 Prohibited Items

The following items are strictly prohibited from being sent through SendAlong:

  • Illegal drugs and narcotics
  • Weapons, firearms, ammunition, and explosives
  • Flammable or hazardous materials
  • Counterfeit goods or items infringing intellectual property
  • Live animals or perishable biological specimens
  • Prescription medication (without valid documentation)
  • Tobacco and alcohol (where restricted by law)
  • Currency, precious metals, or bearer instruments
  • Items restricted by IATA dangerous goods regulations
  • Any item prohibited by the laws of the origin or destination country

4.2 Restricted Items

The following items may be shipped with additional documentation or restrictions. It is the sender's responsibility to ensure compliance:

  • Electronics containing lithium batteries (must comply with airline regulations)
  • Food items (must comply with customs rules of destination country)
  • Cosmetics and personal care products (liquid limits apply)
  • Cultural artifacts or antiques (may require export permits)

Travelers may refuse any item at their sole discretion. SendAlong reserves the right to suspend accounts that repeatedly attempt to ship prohibited items.

5. No Liability for Transactions

Because SendAlong takes no commission and is not a party to any deal, SendAlong is not liable for any loss, damage, theft, fraud, non-delivery, late delivery, mis-description, customs seizure, injury, or any other outcome arising out of or connected to a transaction between users. Users participate entirely at their own risk.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SendAlong (including its owners, employees, contractors, and affiliates) disclaims all warranties, express or implied, regarding the platform, its users, the items listed, or any deal arranged through it. Our total liability to any user is limited to the fees that user has paid us in the previous twelve (12) months — which, while SendAlong runs free of charge, is zero euros.

6. Account Conduct & Reporting

While SendAlong does not mediate disputes between users about transactions, we do moderate the platform itself. If you believe another user is impersonating someone, harassing other users, posting fraudulent listings, or otherwise violating these Terms, please email support@sendalong.app. We review reports and may suspend or remove accounts at our discretion.

Disagreements about the price, quality, condition, delivery, or non-delivery of an item are between the sender and traveler and are not handled by SendAlong support.

7. Intellectual Property

The SendAlong name, logo, design, and software are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Content you upload (listings, photos, messages, reviews) remains yours; by posting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute it for the purpose of operating the platform.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Profile > Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the platform, or pose a safety risk to other users. Listings, messages, and reviews tied to a deleted account may be retained in anonymised form to preserve the integrity of other users' review history.

9. Changes to These Terms

SendAlong may update these Terms from time to time. If we re-introduce paid features (payments, escrow, commission), we will publish updated Terms and notify active users before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the platform after a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the country in which SendAlong is registered (see the Imprint for current company details). Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the platform will be handled by the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
